oxygen sensors??
oxygen sensors??
In the last couple days my car hasn't been starting like it normally does. I have to now give it some gas to get it started. And i can also smell a little bit of gas when i sit still idleing. Would this most likely be the O2 sensors then, or is there something else that could cause this?
If you can get a fuel pressure gauge, see if it bleeds down when you have the key in the on position, if it does it's prolly an injector leaking pull the fuel rail and check that first or the fuel pump check valve has failed, pull the vac line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if there is any fuel in it.
Shawns really on what the manuals say to do, I spent the afternoon doing this, but as I've said elsewhere...Im a big-block carburated type, so all this MPI or TPI is messing with my head...
So, can I add to the question...
Mine is similar this way...
hard to start if it has sat for awhile
on the testing part...the book says the 93 should be between 41-47 psi with the key on, engine off...
mine says 38 psi....
when you start the car, and let run...mine stays at 38 psi
new fuel filter, no obvious damage in fuel line/return line...
what is the next step to check?
So, can I add to the question...

thanks shoebox...but what does it mean...
if you let it sit the pressure in mine it drops about 20 psi in 15 minutes...not sure how far down it drops, but id guess alot
but how do you tell what it is...
it could be fuel pump, pressure regulator, leaking fuel injectors...
oh and hopefully this is helping you to larson, not trying to take over here...

kudah440, 38 PSI is normal. Remove the vacuum hose attached to the regulator and it will jump up to around 41-47 PSI. The regulator on a '93 is found on the rear of the intake manifold on the passenger side.
