Overheating problems with 96' T/A

Drive it down the road and water overflows out of the recovery tank. It has a 16pd radiator cap and the manual calls for 18pd? Would going from 16 to 18 make this stop? Doesnt take long at all for it start overflowing. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance.

What was the last thing you or someone else did to your car?

Do the simple things and start with checking the thermostat to see if it is functioning properly. Shoebox's Tech Page is a good resource for this. Why the 16 lb cap concerns me. Is your radiator clean internally and flowing water freely? Check to see if the radiator is clean externally and can flow air. Are the radiator hoses in good shape and that the hose that feeds the water pump is not collapsing. If you have lost all of your coolant, this would be a good time to remove the radiator; clean the exterior; make sure air flows through it and the A/C condenser, that the hoses are not breaking down internally, etc. Do this right so you don't have to do it again anytime soon.
Hopefully you get more replies from someone(s) that have hands-on experience with thier LT1.
