overheating...please help

i had my thermostat and my fans redone about a month ago, but today when i drove my car about 6 miles away when i parked i noticed my temp at 220 and slowly rising. I came out about 30 min later, the guage read 160 (which i thought was wierd seeing how it dropped so rapidly) and i noticed the low water sign was on. So i added a little over 2 quarts into the radiator and it took all of it...who knows how much more i could have added but what does this problem sound like? thanks

You more than likely have an air pocket in you cooling system.

Re: overheating...please help

You should bleed the system and refill it and see if that doesn't solve your problem.

It would be leaking out of the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump.

Low fan comes on at 226, high at 235.. Once your at 235 if it keeps going up THEN you have a problem.
