Re: overheating

ok sorry i didnt get back sooner busy with work, but i did do a gas test on radiator and the fluid stayed blue so that says its not the heads,so i did a pressure test and i found my bleeder hose leaking between pump and bleeder, could that by it self cause overheating?

Re: overheating

I just re-read the whole thread and other than the overflow condition, you don't seem to be overheating. Have you replaced the radiator cap? It may be bypassing pressure to the remote reservoir. And any leaks found should be repaired.

Re: overheating

The leaking bleeder hose means the system will not hold pressure. That can cause the coolant to boil at a lower temperature. The system is designed to operate at 18psi.

Re: overheating

well after checking somemore i found that the bleeder hose itself just before the pump had a cut in it so im going to replace and pressure check again, one more question though my idle in park is at 1500rpm could high idle contribute to overheating?

Re: overheating

If the coolant had leaked on the harness connector for the Optispark distributor, is may be causing problems with the cam position sensor signal from the optical sensor in the Opti.

Alternatively, high idle means it's getting too much air (vacuum leak, throttle blades stuck open, faulty idle air control), or you have a faulty coolant temp sensor telling the PCM the engine is cold, which causes it to elevate the idle speed (although not to 1,500 RPM).

High idle should not cause overheating. The water pump is turning faster with higher engine RPM and moving more coolant.

Re: overheating

well i most likely found the pro with the idle when i took off my intake hose and filter i found that the intake hose where it connects to trottle body was broke on the under side of hose and it had duck tape on it how the rubber brakes i have no idea but it had a big hole and you can tell it was sucking up grease cause in throttle body i ran my finger on the wall and it was cover in grease film so im gonna clean with throttle body cleaner and look for new intke elbow, well thanks for all the help nice to be able to talk to people instead of paying for shop.
