Angry Over revved.. compression test results

Ok, so I had a transmission failure that resulted in my engine hitting 6300RPM, on a mostly stock LT1 with 1.6RR and CM-EX614 valve springs, 170,000miles.

After this happened I noticed the car idle felt a little strange, and the engine is making an odd noise now. when I raise the RPM up to about 2000 and then let off of the throttle I get a faint strange rattling (or knocking) noise coming from what sounds like the cylinder nearest the firewall on the drivers side. I'd take a video of the sound, but its quiet enough that it probably wouldnt capture it over the sound of the exaust. Everything looks good under the valve cover. I can't test drive it since I have no forward or reverse gears.

The compression test shows 190,190,185,170 on that side of the engine with the 170 reading being the cylinder in question. A capful of oil raised it up to 185.

so... the question of the day is, did I spin a rod bearing? break a ring? any advice would be greatly appreciated because I don't want to put a new tranny in a car with a blown engine, and this car is my daily driver so I need to figure out what I'm going to do.

overrevving usually will take a rod bearing out first. Did your oil press change at all? id think about pulling the pan cause thats what it sounds like.

Ok, I can rent/borrow a leakdown tester this week..

as for pulling off the pan, I've never done any bottom end work before and really don't know what I'm doing there. On the LT1 is it just a matter of lifting the front of the car off the ground, taking out the oil pan bolts and poping it off? If so, where do I go from there? take of windage tray, rotate engine to access #7 on the crank and undo a couple bolts holding the con rod on?
