over heating Q's???

My car is over heating? I took the T-stat out and it still over heats? The heater won't blow hot air either?? you know some times that can help take heat off the motor, but the heater is blowing cold air??? and the temp shoots up to the red line in no time at all? please help me out my car is on the side of the road right now

put the thermostat back in, no clue why people take those out in the first place, its a crucial part to the cooling system.

buy a 160 degree thermo, i have one and my car hasnt been above 180

Let me see if I have this right:

1. Your overheating very rapidly. (with and without thermostat?)
2. Even so, you're still blowing cold air out of the heater?

Could you cooling system be half full and you're not getting a low coolant light? Fans comming on?

I have a 160 stat!! trouble shooting 101: If the thermostat is locked up and causeing the problem, It might be a good idea to take it out and see if the problem is still there??? I dont know why someone would take the t-stat out either
anyone else care to take a stab at it???? It is about to be towed to Modern Musclecar Technologies?? They are going to look at my tranny problem too!

Sounds like you could be due for a complete flush. The heater core could be clogged and causing the "no heat" problem. There could be other obstruction in the cooling system. A new radiator cap would be a good idea, too. Also check for anything sucked into the front of the radiator.

Its called an air pocket. Did u bleed the system via the bleeder screws? The pocket will either stay in the heads (your sudden jump to the red zone) or in the heater core (cold air from heater). U cant just pour anti-freeze in these cars and go like the old ones. JMO. put your stat back in. put it in a pan of water on the stove to check it, thats alittle easier and better way to check the stat than trying to run without it.
