Angry over heating again AHHHHHH

ok after all the work I put into replacing the freakin heater hose, on my way to work the tempature guage jumped way past the red line. I popped the hood and saw coolant leaking right where the heater hose connects into the heater core. Has anyone else had this problem before? From the looks of it, it looks like something is blocking the line. I have a 1996 Z28. Thanks for the help.

Re: over heating again AHHHHHH

I had somewhat of the same problem over the weekend, it was leaking like crazy got all my opti wet car wouldn't start, so there I am on the side of the freeway waiting for it to dry !!

anyways when I got home, I located the spot the the hose was leaking cut it, got a same size hose and snaped it in there, flushed the engine of course, and hadn't had any problems since.

good luck.!

Re: over heating again AHHHHHH

Did you bleed the coolant system after you got done replacing the hose?

He didn't mean flushed, he meant did you bleed the air out of it. If you have the coolant system drained and refill it you usually have to bleed the air out of it like you would the brakes on your car. If not it will over heat very very quickly.

whats the proper procedure to bleeding the system? Is it run car, open bleeder till steady stream of coolant flows out. Close, wait till cool, add more coolant, repeat?

20 mins is fine. It should over heat in a few mins if you have air in it.

Danny- You pretty much hit the nail on the head but don't let to much come out or it'll go all over your opti distributor and kill it. Thats a $2-300 fix. There are 2 screws and you should probably do them both. I usually do mine several times. After i open them and get some coolant out i close them for a min, then crack them open a again for a few secs then close them and you should be good.
