Over Heat

A while back when my water pump died all my coolant leaked out while i was far from home and had to drive home with the gauge at red. Yes i did pull over and let it cool a couple of times. Whats the worst that could happen? Blown head gasket? Could a blown head gasket cause that "low rpm stumble"? There is a little whitish/clear smoke at start up when i get on it but it seems to just be condensation. The car also does not overheat.

worst that could happen,
crack your block, crack your heads.
stumbles are usually caused by fuel problems, or ignition problems
