OVC wires...how hard to install?

OVC wires...how hard to install?

Im thinking of doing the OVC wires since i put on my MAC's...anyone have pics of how they ran them down to the opti from the valve covers? and how hard was the install on these?

Dont have any pics, but the install was very easy. I ran my wires in the stock locations to the opti but didnt use the stock looms.

If you use lots of the silicone spray they will be pretty easy. Spray the boot liberally, and the wire. Then spray it some more.

And I ran them the same route as the stock wires on the passenger side using the stock wire looms to keep them away from the serpentine belt. I just removed the tensioner pulley and they were pretty easy to route through.

lube well good luck I tried the q-tip with petrulium jelly - wd40- free-even some greases I could not get the wires all the way through the boot or if I had to do it 8 times my car would still be on the lift. I used an air grinder with a small egg shapped file ran it through the boot just so the wire would come through but stay very snug. I know it sounds a little unorthodox but my thought is if its still tight no waters getting in and i also used some dielectric grease. Take your time it will take about 2 hours but with some zip ties and heat shielding they work and look great!

it's pretty easy. just get the can of spray on silicone, it makes a world of difference! also make sure you crimp the wire connectors on tight, otherwise they will fall off if you try to put the wires on or remove them from the opti.

asiansensation, very good install directions.

tip for ya'll. I use brake parts cleaner instead of silicon lube. it will make the boots much more easier to install and stay clean doin it. I have done it both ways a few times. (making wires for older cars) and the brake parts cleaner is by far cleaner and easier. the good part is that the cleaner air dries after only a few sec.s and the boot stays put. for the bad part, read that last sentence again. you only have a few sec.s. so spray to install the boot, spray to slide boot down onto the end after the terminal is crimped on.

another tip, MSD makes a slick a$$ crimper that you use in a vise. it will give you round even crimps everytime cause it has 360deg. contact w/the wire/terminal end. much stronger then the generic crimper used in the directions above. but the generic one is easier to use.
