OVC wires, coil and what else?

Going to change out plugs on my son's 94 Z this weekend. My first thought is to use stock wires and coil. However, I am now thinking that I'd like to replace the wires with longer ones that go over the valve covers. Any stock wiresets that can be done like this? I don't want to have to wait another week while we order special wires. Also, what other than the coil should I replace while we are pulling stuff off and turning wrenches?

Say boss this is the LT1 section. To change our wires we gotta remove power steering pumps and alternators and cuss a whole lot.

by the way, not gonna happen unless you got some headers. The wires would rest on the manifold and burn up.

Say Su, I understand this is the LT1 section and if I have to remove a power steering pump or alternator - big deal. It's not my first rodeo - just my first one in this particular arena. I think I'll skip the cussing also.

What about a straight plug boot? One that is long enough to go over the valve covers and stay off the manifolds? I've got headers on two of my other Chevys, but not this one yet.

Like I said, I'm going to replace the coil. What else should I look to do while I got the kid spinning wrenches? Keep in mind that we're spending his money on this one.
