Re: Otvc wires...

there pretty easy to do the hard part is putting the boots on. I like my top otvc. the taylor wires also tend to arc. because the boot that goes on the plug is short.

so what did you use? Did you buy other boots and replace the taylor ones?

Re: Otvc wires...

He's talking about the opti end boots. The OTVC wires are cut to length and you have to crimp the metal opti ends on and slide the boot over them. All of which is an incredible pain in the ***. I've heard that you can't run the top mount with the LT4 covers but I am not 100% on that. I actually plan on going with stock location wires when I do my next tune-up.

Re: Otvc wires...

I've got the top mount OVC wires. It was a little bit of a bitch to crimp the end boots on, but I'd rather do that than route wires in the stock location anyday. Plus it looks really nice when you get done.

Re: Otvc wires...

The top mount works good. The crimping is not that bad, just get some silicone lube. I have never had a problem with around 30K combined miles on 2 f-bods with longtubes and taylors........

Re: Otvc wires...

Easy way to do the crimping is to feed the wire through the boot, crimp on the terminal, and the pull the terminal end back into the boot.

Re: Otvc wires...

I can't vouch for the quality yet. But I just ordered a set of otvc wires pre made from elitesparkpugs.com. I just made and put on a set of taylor 8mm wires. 4 of them are arcing at the spark plug boots. I called tech suport for Taylor, and it wasn't a great experience but not a bad one either. Taylor made it sound like it was my fault. So I have to send them back to Summit so they can send them to Taylor, who will make the final determination if it is my fault. Anyone wanna make bets on what the verdict is?

Re: Otvc wires...

I tried to do the boot over the wires first then crimp and slide the boot back, but it was a pain to do. The tip of my thumb is numb still and its been a week later!! The silicone gel was slicker on my hands than the damn wire!
For me, crimp the end on and slide the boot over worked best and I swore less doing it that way!
They do look cleaner, OVC, and I don't see how I will ever burn a wire now.

Went topmount, I was going to go with elitesparkplugs.com custom cut wire set, but they were too much, including the wire looms for the valve covers. Crimping was a sinch. DIY.

Re: Otvc wires...

it was a PITA for me too to ge tthe boot on, but i eventually used Liquid wrench wich wourked MARVLES over the silicon grease they sent.... i slid wire on boot, crimped, then worked wire back into boot.... i highly recomend liquid wrench for this job, it makes everything SO MUCH easier!! i also got the protector sleves. i think it adds to the look!
