Question ordered JH lt headers have a few question

Whats up everybody i ordered my jet hot lt headers with emission tubes last week and have a few questions for everyone. Hopefully these question aren't asked frequently i don't want to **** anyone off

Is it better to get a shop to custom make a y-pipe or should i buy aftermarket one like "mufflex"? Are their pros and cons with this?

Im going to change the plugs and wires also. Im thinking of changing them myself with the help of a friend. I've got quotes of shops charging $200 for the installation. Is it possible for a beginner like me to install new plugs and wires? Or should i leave it up to a professional? Is it okay for me to change the wires and plugs now and say 2 weeks from now get my headers installed?

people with lt headers and borla catback do you like the sound of your car?

Is their anything extra i need to buy other than a y-pipe? I know with lt headers im not going to pass the visual inspection but what other options do i have to pass the rest of the emission test (I live in los angles)? What should i do about the cats? Remove them, get high flowing cats

thank you in advance im kind of lost on this subject

If you are already doing headers, it's a breeze to do plugs and wires. You going to stick with the stock location or do OVC?

I had a shop custom make my y-pipe, it was less expensive, looks great and I had no worries about the fit. Some people have run into problems with fitment issues with premade y-pipe's...others have not.

I don't have a Borla catback but have heard headers and Borla and it sounds great.

Hmmmmm.....Cali inspections. Do you have a cam? Since you live in Cali, you will want to have cats on or else you won't pass. Good luck.

whats ovc? I plan on installing some aftermarket plugs (taylor wires etc...) I don't have a cam probably won't for awhile (year or two). You mean if im doing headers as in if the shop is installing them and their already under the hood its easy for them to install them. Or its easy for me to install wires and plugs after the headers are installed.

Thanks for the reply

OVC=Over the Valve Cover wires.

You're having a shop install your headers? Do it yourself or find someone off of the board locally who could give you a hand for MUCH less than a shop would charge.

It's easier to install plugs and wires with headers but if you do the header install yourself (see above ) then you can just throw the plugs and wires in while you're doing it.

I was planning on getting a shop to install them. ohhhhh i don't know about installing them myself im not to "handy" with cars. Do you have headers and did you install them yourself? If so how long did it take and did you do it by yourself?

I have Hooker LT's and did them in my buddy's shop the first time. To be honest it was a pain in the *** the first time but they've been off several times since then and it just gets easier each time.
