Optispark vacuum hose to intake
Optispark vacuum hose to intake
I had my optispark off (WP R&R) and the vacuum harness got pulled off later on also. I know which hoses hook up to the opti, I know which one goes to the intake elbow. I need to know where the larger hose connects to the intake? Anybody got a pic or description of where it goes? Since it got pulled loose by mistake, I have no idea.

Thanks Rob,
I am straight now, I had taken this apart way back at the end of May. MY gosh, this sucker is gonna fire up this afternoon for sure. I just realized this morning all I had to do was go look at my my 95 T/A and see exactly how things should be on the 97Z. So I checked it out this morning. How come my 95 T/A does not have a EVAP Canister Purge Soloniod Valve? I just recently got the car, prior engine swap? or did they make some early 95's w/o?

Also, my 97Z has a small hose going from the "L" in the Air Hose to the Bleed Valve Harness (96-97 only) the same "L" on the 95 T/A has nothing attached to it, is that cool or should a hose be running from it somewhere?

Re: Optispark vacuum hose to intake
There were no LT1's built without the EEC purge solenoid.
You might want to look at the diagrams on Shoebox's Tech Pages, showing the difference between the various year (93/94, 95, 96/97) for the EEC and AIR systems. There was also a recall on the 95 and newer AIR systems, and whether your car had the recall done will affect the details of the AIR plumbing.

Re: Optispark vacuum hose to intake
What if you are boosted? Do you still want to have that hose connsected to the intake? Is it ok to leave it disconnected? I won't hook it back up to the side of the intake until I know for sure its safe.

Re: Optispark vacuum hose to intake
The 1996/ 97 year Opti has two hoses or vents. One is the suction side and the other has a series of filters. One Opti vent (or hose) is connected to the intake manifold vacuum on NA motors. On a FI app, the intake manifold will be @ positive pressure (not vacuum) under boost. Therefore, the logical vacuum source would be the intake @ the blower since this is normally always a negative pressure source. This way the opti shall always have air flow thru it to eliminate moisture and some air for cooling.
