Basically the offered Larry a third new unit, or a refund, and he opted for the refund.

Re: Optispark Recommendation??

I just installed a MSD spline drive Opti in my 93. I purchsased it from Amazon. I want to say it was $430.00- $460.00 bucks or so?? Before I installed it the motor wouldn't rev to 5200 without breaking down. The MSD part looked to be a good quality piece. No issues installing the part or making the small mods to vent it. Now the motor spins free to 6k. Best pass before was 13.5. Very first pass with the MSD went 12.9. I can't speak for longevity at this point, but I am very pleased with it so far. BTW, people laugh when I tell them Amazon carries a ton of parts for cheap, but I haven't looked for a part that they don't carry yet. Saved a ton on my drag radials thru them also

I can definitely second the Amazon comment. I purchased a new vented Delphi Optispark from Amazon just recently for only $256. Also picked up a new AC Delco water pump for $77 along with an AC Delco OEM radiator for around $130. Also purchased various other items like a coil as well.

I searched Amazon on a whim and was very surprised at all the parts they actually had. The prices will vary up and down but so far I have paid far less than they would have cost anywhere else. I usually find the actual part number of the item I need and plug it right into the search box and it brings me right to the exact page for the item I need/want. Amazon even has a "Your Garage" function where you load details about your vehicles and it will tell whether a part you've searched for will fit your vehicle.

In recent Forum research on this subject, I have heard good things about the new MSD units, apparently they are not as likely to break as they used to be,, I would like to think that they got their s*** together at MSD.. I have been eyeing a couple new Complete units myself in the 430-460 range on eBay and think that this is the route I will probably take myself..

This part #8381 also came with the actual vent kit correct??

Yes it did. My car is a non-vented opti so I needed to do the small retro fit. The distributer came with the vacuum line cut to the proper length with the small check valve installed and wrapped in a black wire loom. I only had to tee the fitting for the EGR valve and drill a small hole in my air intake track. It looks factory when its done.

Re: Optispark Recommendation??

Nice,, mines a 94 so I will have the same retro fit...
When I did a complete update on my 92 corvette to the 95-97 style opti (i was swapping cams and building engine anyway) I had to purchase a GM vent kit for that particular swap and that by itself was probably close to $100 from what i recall... So if that's included in the 8381,, it seems like a pretty damn good deal.. Thanks!
