Optispark installation help

How do you install my opti from scratch. I moved the rotor on accident when I cleaned it.

Re: Optispark installation help

Do a 'search' on the forum, there are numerous threads about the opti.

Re: Optispark installation help

If you look there is an alignment bump on the rotor and the spline drive has a missing groove.

Re: Optispark installation help

There are keyed grooves, like the link earlier shows. I've seen on the forums how numerous people have been able to miss align these grooves somehow and it still fits on and they think nothing of it until they encounter problems and have to go all the way back to correct it.

Re: Optispark installation help

As difficult as it APPEARS to be to insert the splined tooth incorrectly, I'd estimate that it appears to happen in about 10% of the installs.

Re: Optispark installation help

I just took it all off and put a new cap on it and put it all back together and still crappy. I'm looking at the spline and lining every hting up and it looks and feels to go in good without force. I'm going to pull it off again. could it be that the opti is used to how the cap was before cleaning it?

Re: Optispark installation help

I just tried every tooth on both sides of the spline(cam/opti) and cant even get it to go on any other one.

Re: Optispark installation help

Are you sure you have all the plug wires on the correct terminals on the Opti?

Re: Optispark installation help

Backfiring out the intake. Do I have to put the water pump/crank shaft pully and the belt back on.
Or can I just have the intake and those componants to run it for a few to see if the car runs?
