Optispark, Can I do it?

My car is crapping out on me at low rpm and car is throwing me low resolution opti pulse codes. Ive conceded the fact the opti is done and needs to be replaced. Im wondering how hard is it to do by myself? And I figure since im down there why not do EWP and plugs and wires... I only found one writeup and I was wondering if there are any more out there? Ive never done plugs and wires on an LT1 before. From the searches I have done I am pretty scared about doing it. Im hearing 4 hrs to 2 weeks in changing these bad boys. Im going to order a new opti, coil, wires, plugs, meziere EWP, water pump gaskets, thermostat. Would it be a realistic goal to complete this in a weekend working about 10 hrs a day on it?

BTW I got 160k on the clock

I agree. It'll probably take you longer than four hours, but I wouldn't expect more than 10.

If you just accept the fact you will be doing the spark plugs mostly from under the car, it goes faster. Try and do them from the top, and it takes a lot longer, and results in more blood and cussing too.

The actual opti im not that worried about. Its wires, and hooking up the EWP.

Re: Optispark, Can I do it?

the opti isnt a problem at all, routing the wires can be a pain and the plugs everyone knows are a pain on these but once you start pullin stuff out of the way its not so bad. By the way, if you remove the air pump and its plumbing the wires are ten times easier to route and the engine bay will look way less cluttered.

Re: Optispark, Can I do it?

Remove the Y-pipe as well and the plugs become MUCH easier.

Yeah, the cat comes off with the y-pipe. It's all one piece.
