optispark/cam dowel pin

Is the optispark/cam dowel pin sopposed to stick out after you put the camshaft sprocket on??? my new cam has a dowel pin that is MUCH shorter than the stock one. the stock one was .75 inches and this new one is like .35 or somethng. so it doesnt stick out at all after the sprocket is on. am i screwed??

the short pine is needed for the shaft driven 93/94 opti cars like I have. Yours shold have a longer dowel on it like your stock cam.

well, unless there is some way to extend that dowel your optispark isn't going to spin. I think you need to call the people you got your cam from and let them know so they can rectify it.

Put the pin in a vise and twist and pull on the cam. Tap the new one in.

i would not suggest using JB weld. You should be able to use the one off of the stock cam if you can get it out. My buddy had the opposite problem on his 93. he needed the short one, so we just drove it down and it worked perfect. It should just take a little bit of effort to get out.
