My camaro water pump just started leaking. My opti works find, but i am wondering should i change it out anyway if its been wet from the water pump leakage.

They are pretty expensive so i would rather keep the old one, what should i do to be safe...

just let it air dry out, ive washed my engine compartment down a few times and it never hurt anything, i just let it sit for a good day and it runs as good as before.

If you're doing the labor yourself, the obvious answer when you're trying to save money is don't change it. Worst case is you'll have to change it later. If you're paying someone for the labor, it's about the same amount of labor to change the opti as it is to change the water pump (you have to pull the water pump to get the opti off). If the car has high mileage it might be wise to replace the opti.

Let it dry out, chances are it'll be okay.
