Optima Yellow Top install?

Hi guys. I've had the optima yellow top battery in the car for a while, and its sorta held down with a bungee cord. I want to run auto-x some more, but to run i need it held down firm. Is there anyway to make the existing battery bracket hold down the optima? Has anyone got it firmly in place?
Thanks!

BTW: I searched many times but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I'm pretty sure the Red-top has the same case design, and mine dropped in with no problems using the stock brackets.

I have not done it yet but have been thinking about it for awhile, get some 3/4 to 1 inch aluminum bar stock and measure it out so you can bolt it to the stock location and come over the top of the battery (you will need to get pretty close on the measurement so the bend will be right) then drill a hole in the radiator support and mount the other end there.
since its aluminum you can polish it up real nice so it looks good.

Yes, its a RPO code. If you look in the glove compartment it has to be there. Mine says B4C, and it doesn't say Z28. Honestly, unless the T-tops were put in aftermarket, he's full of crap. Think about it, the cop cars needed the solid roof just for the light bars.

revtime...thanks for the idea. I'll look at it and see what i can come up with.

Just outta curiosity how good are the optima (yellow and red top) batteries? Don't know much about em and i'm looking for a replacement for the factory battery.

The yellow top in my 95 Passport has been running excellent for over a year now. I definately recommend it if you have any kind of stereo system. I haven't tried the red top myself yet, but I've heard nothing but great things, so all my amp-less cars are gonna be getting one soon. I paid $150 installed for my yellow top from a local stereo shop I frequent. It's a little cheaper for the red top. Go here and read up:

I got a yellow top and love it, it's worth the extra $. On a side note, mine is just sitting in the battery tray too. Might try the custom hold down.

Has everyone broken their battery tray like me? That little plastic lip on the front edge that's supposed to grab the battery got broken off when I set a battery down on it accidentally once.

That happened to me too when pulling my battery out when I was putting my car away for the winter.
I think i'll just epoxy it back on.

Be very carefull with those batteries not strapped down, I am currently replacing the RAD ($190.00) because the battery came loose and knocked a hole in it.

my red top fits tight!!! had to push it past the a/c line with some force!

i've ran red and yellow, yellow is better if you don't drive the car all the time, cuz if it runs down it doesn't hurt it, if you let a red top die down it's harming it more.

i haven't tied down either since i've had the car, i drive hard and never had a problem, but i do throw a rag over the top post to stop it from shorting on the hood. not that i'd recomend it but i haven't had a problem yet....

awesome batteries, i've had mine going on 3 years now, 2yellows and one red.
