optima batteries

optima batteries

i'm looking to get a new battery cause mine crapped out, i hear that the red top ones are the ones to get.
also will the battery mount like the original one too, or to i have to get a custom mount or strap for it

I've had a redtop in my Z for over a year and no problems. I believe the yellowtop ones are more powerful, but only really needed if you have a really powerful stereo system..

It goes right into the stock location

You can buy one at summit for 130 red top. As for the battery it should just fit into place but i think there is a hold down kit in jegs catalog just for optima batteries. Dont quote me on that.

I believe there are 2 red tops. Might as well get the more powerful one.

My hold down bolt wouldn't reach because the battery is just a tad too wide for the holddown to fit. All you need to do is use a bladed drill about the size of the bolt head and ream the rubber holddown hole in about 1/4 inch and the bolt will reach the metal bolt hole just fine.

Just don't go all the way through with that bit.

the red top is a regular battery, the yellow top is deep cycle and the blue top is deep cycle marine

There are two red tops both with the same CCA. One has side posts, one does not.
