opti-spark install question

I've got a 1995 LT1, pin drive opti, with LT4 roller timing set. Found out I ordered the production LT4 set, NOT the extreme duty,

anyways

with timing marks lined up on the cam and crank sprocket, I installed the timing cover, opti, has 3 holes for pin to go in. one hole has a slot in it. I made sure the pin went in the hole with the slot.

okay i put all the valve train stuff on and went to start adjusting my rockers. when i turnd over the engine I noticed that #1 cylinder intake valve opend imediatly.

Now on classic GEN 1 SBC, didn't the cam and crank spockets timing marks line up at TDC compression stroke?

The LT1 timing marks are lining up at TDC Exhaust stroke.

anyways...just noticed this wondering if anyone else has... that means with timing marks lined up, putting the opti on the rotter bug would point to #6

Re: opti-spark install question

When the dots on the cam and crank gears are lined up and together, you are at #6 TDC.
