opti or something else?

Ok my car is in my sig but it wont start sometimes. It turns over fine but just wont fire up, then when it actually does fire it will run fine till it warms up and then it seems as if there is a rev limiter around 3500rpm and the warmer it gets the lower the rpms get.It will spit and sputter and wont ever clear out. Im lost so please let me know your thougths thanks

the car has 130k and its the original opti with a 1000mile msd cap and rotor and the icm and coil was also replaced

Yeah it def has the signs. Could be something else too though, Changing the opti isn't that bad. It's a little time consuming but nothing to hard to bear.

Yeah that is what happened with mine also. My WP had a slight leak and it kept shorting the opti out, finally I got another to put on there. The 2nd new one in 2 months and it poured out water. Look at the plug wires and see if they are still getting spark when it is messing up. Have you checked the plugs to see if any of them are fuel fouled? I would just hate for you to pay for an opti and do all the work just to find it still didn't help. I ended up going through like 2000.00 trying to find my problem, I just never thought it would be the opti since I had just put one on there. But you never know with these crazy f-bodies. your not in the dfw texas area are you?

Sure they do..... there are dozens of codes, including the ones for a faulty Opti optical sensor, and for the TPS you are apparently going to replace for no reason at all.

Ya I agree, It would throw codes for either of those. Have you replaced the fuel filter and checked the fuel pressure on the back of the manifold?

When my opti went bad it would only throw the code after warming up and going in to open loop. It would run just fine when in close loop but as soon as it got hot it would miss and run like crap until it threw the code and it would run fine agian. Sounds like an opti to me

Before jumping on the "change the opti" bandwagon you should check your fuel pressure to see about the fuel pump and make sure to rule that out. It's cheap and easy to do.
