Opti Rotor That Wont Fly Apart?

Looking for a opti rotor that wont fly apart. I even modded the last one that I installed and it still came apart. Who makes one that does NOT use plastic rivets to hold it together?

Plastic rivets?

I GM opti has screws that hold it on, I green loctited mine on and have yet to have a problem with them.

The general problem I see is the screws get loose to the point where the rotor hits the cap and breaks it.

Sounds like you want a MSD cap and rotor.

fatboy, he is refering to how the conductor is held to the rotor. Most use some melted plastic and some guys have had problems with it breaking up under high rpm use.

Yes, I have had 2 opti's throw the copper conductor. So... The last gm opti, I took apart and inserted 2 alum 1/8 rivets in place of the sonic welded plastic. The rivet location nearest the rotation center was easy. The forward rivet I had to disasemble the rivet body (pull shaft from rivet body) and file body shorter for clearance @ assembly. It worked. I was exploding the rotors regularly due to the hot spark being applied by an MSD 6a and a 8202 coil. I also run an open vent on the opti due to the gm filter air restriction (does not flow enough air in my opinion). My app... 97ss 383 D1/ afr heads/ Acceleronics box w// 72# Seimens low_z/ M6, and to many other mods. Hope this helps and don't be afraid to void the waranty on your new opti by moddin it (under designed). Or, buy an MSD rotor/ cap. B.

I did not replace the plastic rivets, just added small screws. Guess I'll try something different. I know the opti is fine but its time for another cap and rotor.

Like I said the MSD has a more positive retention for the conductor.
