Opti Replacment, what brand?

Hey guys,

I've been out of the lt1 loop for some time now, and finally got another lt1.. a 95 Trash Can lt1 M6, stock. 60,000miles.

I know that when I decide to do a full tuneup, opti will have to go. Who out there makes an opti replacment that's good quality and works good?

Thanks guys.

Re: Opti Replacment, what brand?

The new MSD Opti replacement made from billet aluminum with a high quality ballbearing(instead of bushing) should be a good piece...you can also adjust the timing (+ or -) 5 degrees with it...and several of the other internal parts are claimed to be a much better design to deal with higher RPM's.....I think it should be available any time (hopefully Mid june like summit says).....and there's also the new accel unit(that is now available), which IMO, is more of a stock replacement unit not offering many of the internal upgrades like the MSD unit(id go for the MSD if you don't mind the $500 price tag)......

So you guys are saying $500ish for the new stuff from MSD. What about Deltech?

Stock vented Opti's used to be about $200-220 in the past, what do they run now and what's the best place to order from?

Thanks guys.

i just picked up one of the new accel units looks like a very nice piece. seems to feel much better than a GM opti. should have it on the car in a week or so.

i picked it up from a local shop for a better price than summit is selling it for and that is always a plus.

Delteq....no problems and I love it. Problem is....you need a functioning optical pick-up in order for it to work.

Re: Opti Replacment, what brand?

why would MSD make a non water resistant one.... its like trying to fix something w/o fixing the main problem.
