opti replacment along with cam install?

i am doing my cam install and i was wondering if it would be wise to go ahead and replace the opti, mine is fine but it has 124k on it. is there anywya to dissasemble and clean the opti? what are other alternative to the opti while the car is apart?

I would. I'd think seriously about it with half those miles.

Definitely change it out for a new one. I got a new GM opti for
$200 shipped off the "for sale" board when I did mine. Look around
and you can find a good deal.

That's what I did during my cam/heads install--mine had 75,000 miles on it, just didn't want to run the chance of it dying. Also serves as a good back up if ever needed.

$100 sound like just a cap and rotor kit, not a complete opti.

As far as wires go, i'd go with an over the valve cover system. Which one you choose depends, search and you will find lots of info on them.

mine was aged enough that it was rusted inside. i didn't even waste my time. actually, first i did. it was broke. then i rebuilt it. didn't work so hot. then i bought a new one from GM. finally worked
