How hard is it to replace the Optispark on a 94 Z28 A4? Also can it hurt anything when it goes bad?

here is a good write up. opti-install Most people say it takes only a couple hours to do.

 

Sounds like alot of work, but its really not, took my about 2 1/2 hours total... Longest part for me was trying to get all the waterpump gaskets off lol

If it's early 94 (spline drive), it's pretty straight foward. If it's late 94 (dowel drive) make sure the dowel goes in the right hole.

 

That Street Illusions site has guided me through two opti replacements. Its better than my manual. And I agree, scraping off the old water pump gasket is the most time consuming part of the job.
If you're lucky, the crank pulley will come off without a puller.

 

Here's another vote for the water pump gasket being a PITA!lol. Pretty simple to do really once the fans and stuff are out of the way. Of course new plugs, wires, and coil are a good idea since it's easier to do now.
