opti dowel pin question (non vented)

Ok fellas I bought a new ac delco opti and the dowel pin that came with it is shorter than the orginal one that came out of it. Problems that I am having is the new pin is to short and will not go in the opti when I try to put it on the car. I try to use the old one and it seems the splines are different and want go into the opti correctly. I went to the dealer and they said I have to order a whole new opti. I have tried all different ways to put the old one in the back of the opti and it just won't go but it will go into the motor with no problem. I can't even get it to go into the old opti I had on the car. Where can I get a new dowel pin that will work. It is about a 8th of an inch difference between the two dowel pins.

thanks
Josh

When you say "dowel pin", do you actually mean the splined opti drive?

Yes sir, its the one that has the splines on both ends. I don't know why the other one is different. Is it possible that the corvette opti splined drive is different? If there is a way I could post some pics I would but dont know how.

thanks
Josh
