Opti Delete

Hey I was wondering how much in total it would cost to switch from a opti over to a distributor setup. Here is the link I got the idea from.

Re: Opti Delete

So, if you switched, what will you use to send signals to the computer to operate your injectors? Also if the computer sees no pulses from the opti, it won't allow fuel pump operation.

Re: Opti Delete

Yep shoebox nailed it (as always). The guy in your link converted his LT1 over to a carb so the PCM is basiclaly useless. Unless you get rid of fuel injection all together you will need an Opti or something to let the PCM know to fire the injectors.

Re: Opti Delete

I ran a MSD crab cap distributor on mine. This leaves the opti in charge of all things the PCM needs, yet allows a true distributor to distribute the spark. Do a search for "lt1 to distributor" in advanced tech by me, lots of info

Re: Opti Delete

No im still EFI controlled by stock computer.

The LT4 intake above is still fuel injection. If you want the stock ECM on there, you need the opti res wheels still. If its aftermarket DFI, you could totally eliminate the opti.

Re: Opti Delete

shrug.

It feels really fast, and the car has not misfired under any rpm/load so far. However its very cold, so the 1st/2nd/3rd is useless. 4th is useless past 75% throttle. Partially the cold roads, partially the power. Our car club is getting a dyno day together in the next few weeks, ill have some tuning results then. Our tracks open end of Feb.

Re: Opti Delete

i dont understand how cold has to do with anything with the dist/timing etc and how ur 1st/2nd/3rd is useles...

do you mean u are like spinning the tires in those gears, or ur distubitor doesnt like to work in the cold

Re: Opti Delete

I wasnt sure exactly what you were asking for, the intake manifold swap i did or the distributor, because they both went along with the post.

The distributor works great in all conditions. A+

The setup as a whole is hard to judge how its running because it just spins, and spining isnt any faster than the next person spinning.
