HOLY CRAP! $1200! My advice to you is to just buy the part, which I ma sure you can find on here, and install it yourself. $1200 is outrageous. I have had friends with very little automotive knowledge, who have changed that thing out no problem. Personally I have not had to do one yet, knock on wood, but I am sure there are people on here who will be able to give you tips and secrets on how to do it as easy as possible.

what area of the country are you from? Ill do it for 1k

Anyways, call jason cromer (search for his number on this board), order the opti (300?) and either take it to another shop, or do it yourself. Pretty straight forward install, hard to mess it up. Pull the CAI, waterpump, and hamonic balancer and then the opti comes off. If you have basic tools/abilites you can do it.

I just bought an opti for less than $200 shipped from Jason and am going to have it installed for $350 today.

Bigfoot: I just ordered a whole set of crap to replace my opti from jason cromer at samtaylor.com - I suggest you do the same, and it's NOT difficult work to do. I'd suggest that you replace exactly what I replaced if you have a good amount of miles. My recommendation is to go ahead and change your water pump now, instead of waiting for it to go out on you and take your opti with it. Here's what I ordered:

(1) Non-vented Opti P/N 10457702 - $280.00
(2) Water pump cam shaft o-rings P/N 12553792 - $0.50 each
(1) Water pump and gasket P/N 12527741 - $130.00
(1) 1994-1997 ignition coil - $29.00

Grand total with 2-day air: $475.00

That's a LOT less than $1200, isn't it? And it'll only take about 4 hours to do yourself..

Regards,
Bryan

Holy freakin crap! $1,200 for an opti install?! An opti is like $200 give or take, so that's basically $1,000 in labor for a job that will take maybe 2 hours max if you aren't even sure what you're doing. I'd laugh in their face, and then if you can't do it yourself, just post in the regional section and find someone locally who will be more then happy to install it for you for a relatively cheap price.

You can replace the opti, plugs, wires, and water pump for less than that. If your going to replace the opti it's a good idea to do all that anyway.IMO
