Angry Opti changed.. now overheating! WTF?

All right,
The opti is changed and now the temp soars over 210.

The h20 pump seems fine, the the shaft tha connects the two splines is turning (I don't think tha the pump can be installed on the two tabs, bolted up without the splined shafts joined with the "socket" looking thing can it?)

The fans are hooked up and come on when heat/ac is turned on. But the fans don't seem to kick on by themselves at 165-170.
I have the 160 stat.

Any ideas?

A real PITA to change the opti. Not difficult, just REAL time consuming disconnecting all the crap to get to it....

Maybe a plug I missed? The sensor to the h20 punp is there, the fans are hooked up, but anything else?

HELP!!!!!!

Did you bleed the air out of the cooling system using the bleeder screws?

sure it does not turn on by it self at 165*

having a 160 stats, does not mean that the fans will kick in at 165-170. 160 stats will do is to let you coolant flow inside the engine once the coolant temp is 160*. 210 for the fans to start turning is not over heating. i reprogram my pcm, and now my fans turn on at 185* and shut off at 177*, which is cool enough for me.

PS: be sure to flush your radiator.

BitCypher-
I was not aware of bleeder screws, please tell me where they are and I'll get right on it.....

TMDZ28-
Not sure exactly what temp they came on, Ed Wright did my pcm, but my temp mever went far above 180 (except when stalled in traffic on 110 degree day in Dallas. I flushed the rad before filling it.

there are 2 bleeder screws, one on the Thermostat housing, and one inline one on a hose on the PS front of the engine.

I just found this:

Thanks guys, having this board and you members makes having this car worthwhile even if they weren't the best!

Here's a pic from shoebox's site that shows the location of the bleeder screws....shoebox rocks!

Let the car warm up so that the thermostat opens allowing water to flow through the lines. Then, while the car is running, open the bleeder screws and leave them open until only coolant comes out. This ensures that no air pockets are trapped in the cooling system.

Also, make sure your thermostat is installed correctly with the spring end facing down into the water pump.
