Unhappy Opti,Cap&Rotor,Fuel Pump replaced, car won't start

My car died on the freeway a couple months ago and I misdagnosed it thinking that it was the fuel pump. I replaced it with a racetronix. That wasn't the problem. Next thing I did was replace the opti along with the cap and rotor. Now it won't start. Upon taking the original cap and rotor apart from the opti, I noticed the 2 screws holding the rotor to the cap were both out, thus causing my original problem. Is there anything that I should look for that I may have not connected? Also, it won't shift from park to any other gear. Never had a problem with this before.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Opti,Cap&Rotor,Fuel Pump replaced, car won't start

I just had a issue with my opti (autozone cap & rotor ) so I bought a COMPLETE new one from Dal, went to crank the car and all I got was it turning over. It would not crank for $hit! It was only firing on the #1 cylinder. The way I figured this out was, after trying to crank it for a couple of minutes I got mad and looked under the hood again. When I touched my #1 primary it was hot, I touched the rest of the and they were ICE COLD. So, I pulled a few plugs and sure enough they were fouled BAD!!! Long story short..........I now have new plugs and opti. Runs like a champ again.

P.S. As far as the tranny not shifting........look under the car at the linkage, I can't imagine it could be anything else. Unless the shifter itself is stuck from sitting so long.....try pulling on it a LITTLE harder.

I just had a car in the shop 3 days ago with your same problyms. 1 it died on them 2 it woudnt start 3 it wasnt getting any fuell 4 it woudnt come out of park. First thing you want to check is see if you have break lights i know that sounds crazy. What was wrong with the one we had in the shop was break light switch on the break pedal. ide say if your motor cranks your brake switch is the problym if your engine doesnt crank ide say you might want to check your ignition cylinder could have a broken wire for your vats. Good luck keep me posted

Thanks for the replies. I have been working too much to take another look at it since. Any other possibilities?

Oh yeah, since the car broke, the ignition switch now sticks, not allowing me to take the key out without quite a bit of force.

make sure that the dowel and everything is lined up.... I had the same thing happen. I replaced everything, and it still wouldnt start... ended up having it towed to a shop... they said the dowel and the opti were not lined up... so, the timing was off
