An opti begining to fail? symptoms plz
well ok im thinking more and more its my opti that needs replacing the more i tune my car...
its running rough more then it used to,
its got a low rpm stumble and the rpm range is slowly growing from 1000-2000 or more recently almost 2500.
sometimes at high rpm's it decelerates for some reason almost engine braking, then it shifts and puts me in my seat again (very rough on my neck)
do any of those sound like they could be opti problems?
also what are symptoms of bad wires?

the stumble includes knocking and the peddle will kinda of give a little push on my foot when it knocks, and it sounds like the engine is really struggling the ac or fan will kick off at those low rpms

Ya know what this reminds me of? the RPM range the EGR is supposed to open and close... Have you checked it yet?
Hmmm this reminds me of timing/fuel/and god knows what else so dont fret just yet this could also be a secondary reaction to a non-opty related problem...
Tis is yer car screaming "Get off the gas pedal you $%#!' I am hurting and you should fix me first!!" No really.. if it was mine (95Z) this would be the result of the engine rocking back and forth in the engine bay when it looses power.
Oh yeah baby... Dont you like that "My head is about to snap off feeling?? Now this to me sounds like Opty or fuel related... more like opty but then Have you checked your Rubber intake elbow for ruptures?? Remove it from the throttle body and check all around it. A rupture will cause that problem too... back and forth. really anoying.

Yes and there is a GM page that describes how the Opty works and I cant find it!!! it also explains all the symptoms of an opty going south... do a search or ask around. Its the most detail write-up of the opty that I have ever seen so people in the board will remember where to find it.
