Re: Opti Bearing, is there a difference in size between Vented and non vented?

We know the parts are diff as it relates to diff #s. It could still beg the question of whether one could physically be swapped for the other. If you do not have physical specs for the non vented, it is mute, but if you want the dimensions for the vented...

* 35.0 mm OD
* 17.0 mm ID
* 9.0 mm width

Oh, and the retainer relief notch...

notch/step on @ side of bearing is 30.0 mm dia. X 2.0 mm deep.... So it is a 2.5 X 2.0 step

HTH

Edited to correct width dimension in post.

Y'all can stop posting now. It seems that our "hero" Joebagodonuts has been cut off at the knees so to speak.

Thanks! Far from being a moot point, that's exactly what I am curious about..
I do have the dimensions of the unvented, but felt it was redundant to post [since the link earlier in this thread shows the dimensions of it..]

Here's a recap though, for others future reference on the dimensions of the bearings:
[Use this link for the image of the unvented bearing]
http://bearingsdirect.com/products/i...d=&prevstart=0

Unvented[verified by myself ]:

OD 35mm
ID 17mm
B 30mm
W 7mm

The width of 7mm is the overall width, the step width is 2mm, the width before the step is 5mm.
The step which is on ONE side of bearing ONLY is 30.0 mm dia. X 2.0 mm deep.... [So it is a 2.5 X 2.0 step]

********************************
Here's the vented bearing dimension [ as provided by A/G above ]:
OD 35.0 mm
ID 17.0 mm
B 30 mm
W 9.0 mm
The width of 9.0 mm is the overall width.
The notch/step on @ [EACH/aka BOTH] side of bearing is 30.0 mm dia. X 2.0 mm deep. So it is a 2.5 X 2.0 step.
The step width is 2mm, the width before the step is 5mm.

So it appears the key difference is, that the unvented bearing has one step, on one side, and the vented bearing has 2 steps, one on each side.
And they for sure do NOT interchange..[7mm vs 9.0 mm over all bearing widths...]
A/G thanks again for the help..
Charlie
Edited to correct A/G's dimension.. thanks Gary!
