Opti?

Well on my way home from work today the car just died. I was driving around 50 MPH an she just died, so i put it in neutral an cruised to the shoulder an tryed to start it again, it wouldnt. So i let it sit for a bit an then i tired again, an it started, i had to hit the gas a couple times tho for it to get going. I called a tow truck an now looking at my options. The water pump is leaking.

So what are my options here? what do you think?

The same thing happened to my Impala, turned out to be the fuel pump. Scan it for any codes, then check the spark and fuel.

Wink opti

get it to you mechanic. your water pump was playing gangster and took out your optispark! just happened to me. I just changed the cap and rotor to msd(it has a vacuum line to suck any water out now)off course mine is a 93 unvented unit.part cost me 165 at summit--labor 190 for water pump(90 dollar rebuilt) and cap and rotor.all total about 460 bucks.runs like a champ now.

If your water pump is leaking, your opti is getting wet, I'm not saying the opti is gone, but it's getting damaged.

Something is heat sensitive. Could be your opti...i bought a brand new one from MSD and it was breaking down after about 25 mins of running, it would run for an amount of time and then die. After cooling off it would be fine and run great until it started breaking down again. Could be opti, could be alot of other electrical things!

If the opti took a bath in coolant, that could very well be the problem. Let the car sit and dry out and see if it fires up.

What gives?

So i tryed letting it warm up to temp for about ten mintues, took it around the block an still wont die. Iam kinda stuck now.

And another question, are ALL 94's non ventended? If mine is vented how could i check that out?

You still have a problem. Coolant is highly caustic 94+ Opti's are vented. It may be running fine and all, but you're not out of the water. Get the w/p fixed!
