Opterating Temp...for 1995 Z28

I just purchased a completely stock 1995 Z28 M6 and was wondering what is the normal operating water temperature for it.. I completely forgot what it was on my old Z. It's a in about the middle marker..like 200-225?? it fluctuates but never goes towards the red zone 260 it stays a few sticks under..I do have a 160 stat and an SLP fan switch but don't know if it will help any...

Mine usually stays exactly at half gauge, but I can't remember what temp that is it's been so long.. 200? >winter cant end soon enough <

From what i've read, mine runs a little warmer than the typical lt1, but i'm also missing the airdam (I'm guessing you may be as well). Check that and look into replacing it if it's been removed

The center of the coolant temp gauge is about 210*F (exceot in 93). That's where GM designed it to run. The low speed fans in your 95 don't come on until it hits 226*F, and then go to high speed at 235*F.

Shoebox has an interesting collage of LT1 collant temp gauge faces:

That explains a lot..yeah it does run up a little over 210* but never the red zone..I'll still install the switch and a 160* stat..and the car does have the air dam...
