ive got a borla catback the other day i took out the plate nd ran it wide open, well sure it was louder BUT i felt like i lost torque and power? ive heard that a cutout or running wide open exhaust will drop torque. is this what happned to me. and why?

Niether nor..I called and spoke to Borla a couple months back..when asking them the best setup for the pipe kit. THey told me you make less power when it's fully open. He said when they tested thier systems they got best performance with the plate that has the little O in it. I felt like I slost power too when I did the same thing. I liek the way it sounds though could give a fart less if I'm loosing 5 or so HP.

What Heatmaker said!

I don't have the link with the dyno graphs, but the best plates are the smaller hole or the slightly larger one (1.5" and 1.75" I believe).

I think I may have the best option for you.

Click on this link for my write up:

And click on this for the sound/video of my car...You will need Quick Time to view:

You can open or close it or Partially open and close it with a flip of a switch inside the car.

Thanks,
Claude

Claude,

After reading your write-up, I've finally decided to go get that electric cutout. How did you run the wire? To the spare tire well and then through the interior?

Here's the dyno graphs on the different plates:

Just click on the one for Borla

I thought I was imagining it, but mine felt more powerful at the low end of the power band with this plate in it.
