Open headers or not??
Open headers or not??
I am getting Hooker LTs installed this week, and I am wondering if I should get dual cutouts installed so I can run open headers. More mods, I have a CAI, custom 3" catback (no cat, vforce muffler) and nitrous. Will open headers even help me??
Its not a carbed engine. I believe putting the cut outs to close to the headers will drive the o2s crazy....probably the knock sensor too cuz its so dam loud. I would get a 3 in. exhaust with turn downs before the axle ....like true duals or something. I think cut outs sound like ****. I've heard of ppl burning valves with open headers on 4th gens.
i've also heard its not good for the sensors, and i just installed my Jet-hots and i'm running them out of a cut-out by the rear axle and its freaking loud, cant imagine what open headers would sound like on the highway
as long as the cutouts are 12" past your o2 sensors you should be fine, i run dual cutouts on my jet hot LTs. ground clearance suffers due to the driver's side cutout.
i did dual cutouts for sound
one 3" cutout in the i pipe would flow enough for me and you both....

I run dual 3" Q-tec's straight off the headers. I LOVE the sound. And beleive it or not I have never had ANY ground clearance issues.
