Open 3" CAI

If your running open 3inch intake with no air filter, why doesnt the car shift good about 80mph it will studder then shift like its dead, but when i went back to the stock intake deal it became normal again just went right into gear? Does the intake like some form of resistance? And would putter an air filter on the cai help it out any like make it shift like normal like with out it , i only took it down the road a few times to see if there was any differnce!

Not smart to run it without a filter.

The computer controls the line pressure in the transmission which controls when the car shifts. The computer calculates this from reading your MAF, MAP, and TPS sensors which are all calibrated with an air filter in mind. So if you run the car without an air filter you could possibly damage the transmission. Same problem happens when people stick on larger throttlebodies without editing the line pressure in the computer.

Also, it's not good to run without an air filter and your car is just letting you know that.

Hmm... I'm not real sure on that one. You may want to search the forum for people who've done it. One more reason why I'm glad I bought a 6 speed car.
