Only getting 21MPG Highway, suggestions?

I checked my millage, and I am currently getting around 21MPG strictly highway, so you can imagine what mixed city and highway is. All I have done is a cutout that is always open, and one of those cheap cone air filters from autozone. Car is bone stock. Any suggestions to get this thing running better? It just turned 40K miles.

See if your cheap cone air filter is clogged.
Do a basic tune up.
Go to a different gas station.

A4 or M6? If it's an A4, your converter might be worn out.

Hmm I would seafoam it if it had more mileage... I would check filter and maybe clogged cat aswell (if cutout is after cat) ... what do you get with cutout closed?

You have the same car/color as mine.... I got my 93Z w/A4 at 54000 miles and had 24 MPG highway stock....

Now with 139,000 miles, I get 22 MPG highway, w/cat back, G2 CAI, and 1.52 rockers with regular maintenance....

Maybe O2 sensors????? Original plugs?????

Holy crap! I know LS1s get slightly better mileage than LT1s, but you should be doing a lot better than that. I get 18-20 in the city, ~22 mixed, and 27+ highway.

I really dont know what the problem is

My daily commute is about 2 miles, so theres a lot of starting and letting it warm up and the occasional punch of the gas everyday.

And revving towards the ladies on campus now and then.

be happy with 22mpg, if you think about it, its a 350 knocking down more then 20 mpg.

That's a ridiculous suggestion, when others with essentially the same car are getting so much better results.

I usually drive too fast for that. Plus, you had a shorter gear ratio.

No o2 sensors on the 93s, it is an A4 and shifts perfectly, car runs fine, it will get up and go with no hesitation or anything. As far as I know, it still has the factory plugs and wires. It is throwing a code 26, which is the EVAP system, but I wouldnt think that would hurt fuel economy too much The cheap cone air filter looks like it could use a cleaning, but its really not that bad.
