The only reason I think it's more than a plug is that usually 2 swapped wires means the car will run like crap but it'll still start and run (although rough)

Did you put new plugs and wires on and then the problem came up? or did this happen a while after the plugs and wires were done?

If I had to take my best guess. I bet you guys didnt get the plug wires all the way onto the opti. May sound dumb but i've seen it done, and it really wasnt that obvious to the eye.

If the water pump isn't leaking onto the opty,check the map sensor( it's on top of the intake manifold, a little black thing about the size of a garage remote).It has to be sealed real tight.Hope this helps.
