Okay where did it go?

I start my car this morning and the low water symbol is lit. I check the radiator level and had to add about 2 quarts of water. I drive to work and back and the level is fine. I get under car after work and check each hose, bolts on water pump, weep hole. NOTHING all dry and tight. Coolant reserve is full. Next I romp on the warm engine to see if any water comes out the exhaust or any smoke NOTHING.

Also Im running 2 bottles of water wetter and about 20% prestone to 80% water. Im in california and it never gets below 45* at night.

Any ideas? 95,000 on the engine, NO mechanical problems . No leaks Plus Its getting 28 mpg just the day earlier.

Keep an eye on it for a few days, if the problem persists, then worry. No sense getting all worked up over nothing, though your mix seems to be very high on the water side and may lead to other problems (oxidation) down the road. Are you using distilled water or tap?

Where did it go? Where does the quart of oil that is considered normal for a Porsche to use between oil changes go? The great mysterious land of tube socks!

check the coolant sensor on the passenger side of the radiator somtimes those go out or get stuff in them and have faulty readings.

Probably just the sensor needs replaced or you have air pockets in your system.

It could be the sensor is bad, but it could also be a head gasket. It is possible to have a leaking head gasket. My car was using water and a .5 qt of oil every change. Eventually my head gasket blew.
