If you are stroking the motor I would go with a set of Trick Flows or AFR's. Stock LT1 castings won't be able to flow as much as you will need. If you are swapping heads you could get a LT1 head max ported and should be fine. Just like everything else it depends on your goals and how big your wallet is.

no stroker yet but still want to make good numbers around 400rwhp. i was thinking le3 heads would be good but dont know enough about heads to make the decision alone. or go with lt4 casting and lt4 intake at the time of the swap if its worth the extra power ??? btw how much extra power going lt4?

If you want the most power, you need to match the cam to the heads, not the other way around. I would say go le3 and pick up his le3 cam. It had proven results. If you're wanting something a little cheaper, contact lloyd and tell him about your set-up so far and he can help you pick up the right heads.

I think you could get the LE2 or LE3 heads and match them up with your 306 and be fine. I think that the 306 Llyod compares to his LE2 cam, so I'm sure you would be fine with either. Llyod is a great guy and he will point you in the right direction. Great customer service I don't know enough about the LT4 heads to say one way or the other, but I think I remember seeing that once both heads are ported they are pretty similar in flow, it's just out of the box the LT4 flow better. There's a website that gave flow numbers of a bunch of heads, it was malcams or something like that. If you search yahoo you can find it.

Was just about to point that out myself. He is making 400 hp with just LE1 heads which is pretty freaking sweet.
