Ok to grind rockers to fit CC 10308-1 springs?

Im finally getting around to finishing my stock 97 heads and getting my car back together, did some diy porting and polishing on them and was getting ready to send them to Lloyd for a valve job, assembly and flow testing. Here's my head set up:

Manley raceflo 2.0/1.56 valves
Crane 10308-1 springs with L98 seats
Hotcam
hotcam kit 1.6 roller rockers

Lloyd advised me of a potential problem with these rockers not clearing the crane retainers. I installed one of the valves & springs and see the clearance issue. I really dont want to change rocker arms or buy new springs at this point. My question is, how big of deal is it to do some minor grinding on the underside of these rockers? Have many people done this without a problem? Thanks

I would be very careful of doing this. The HotCam rockers have a lot of meat on them and I suppose you could grind a little off the alignment shoulders but I'm not sure of any ill effects on the roller. How much grinding are you talking?

It just contacts the inside of the retainers enough to keep the roller tip from contacting the valve. It appears it would take some relatively minor clearancing on the shoulders to avoid contacting the retainer. I cant decide if I should just do this, or just get new rockers, or go with different springs? I really dont like the idea of grinding on them at all.

Its not a big deal to grind them a little. get some dye or a marker and see exactly where they are hitting.

Get a paper clip of wire or something close to 20 or thrity thousanths and go with that.

I have done it a few times, never had a problem

I just did some very minor grinding on the outer edge under the tip on one of the rockers and it fits fine now. I'm going to stick with this set up. Thanks for the feedback.
