Theres A Tool To Put The Spring And Retainers Back On But You Will Have To Pull The Plenimun To Get At The Lifter. The Lifter Probably Isn`t Seated On The Cam Anymore.

Let Us Know How It Goes From Here.

1racerdude,,,, I Was Referring To The Rubber Valve Stem Seal That Sits Around The Valve Stem. I Have Seen Some Valves That Have The Spring Loaded Stem Seal And Also Another Large Rubber Boot In The Middle Of The Spring. Im Assuming That This Was Done To Help With The Oil From Getting On The Valve Stem Seal Itself. Sorry If I Was Wrong But Do You Know What Im Talking About??
Yea,the big seals that fit on the stem are called umbrella seals.Ford used them for years and Chevy too.The other type fit on the guide and are about the size of your third finder.

Didn't mean to make ya think ya was wrong, just maybe ya wasn't familiar with the top end all disassembled or torn up.

Re: ok... car making loud noise

looks like you might be ok, I would pull the head to check the valve and piston though, the valve is probably bent after hitting the piston

with luck, all you need is gaskets, a valve, and keepers, I would pull the head and take it to a cylinder head shop
