Ok, Can someone help me?

Alright here is the scenario....

When I drive my car ... and I hit the Gas pedal I can hear a "ticking" like sound comming from around where the injectors are... it makes this sound as soon as you hit hte gas...when you let off the gas it dissapears... I mean if you hit hte gas light or hard...as soon as you hit it... the ticking begains.. She did this waaayyy before the headers..so it's not an exhaust leak..also when I do hit hte gas and stomp on it hard...the pedal doesn't feel as responsive at times like it used to...Like I used to be able to break traction and spin the rears as soon as I mashed on ye ol' pedal... but not anymore... now I mash and then the car just zooms hard with plenty o' tracktion. That shouldn't be at full throttle right? Also F-body expert Shoebox told me it might be the MSD Blaster coil causing that non responsive feel... possibly.. I have been noticing that my Z is doing that stutter start thing when I turn the key... 2-3 stutters then she roars to life...but I'm unsure if that's a sign of a bad coil...or my starter...as my Starter is covered in oil from my Intake oil leak...soon to be taken care of. I don't know what to do..or where to start... Autozone sells the Fuel pressure test kit's... I'm about to steal in a minute and see if it can tell me about hte fuel issue..but does it sound like an injector problem? I'm just wondering...because my car has undergon some bodywork and I don't have fuel door really and have noticed residue in my Tank piping from time to time...maybne htat has found it's way into my injectors some how, or jacked up my fuel pump?

I seriously don't know at this point...now excuse me as I curl into a ball and whimper...

an injector is basicly just a selinoid. it will click as it activates. but if it;s not a header leak , I would be thinking about a lifter issue

I take that back..it's not a ticking sound...more like a "slooshy grinding" sound.... Lifters you say....how do I check that?

with the engine running, put the tip of a screw driver along each valve cover and cover all spots on the valve covers. put your ear close up to the end of the screw driver. "stethoscope". run the throttle a bit and see were it clicks the most. if you can hear it hitting real hard, then u know u have a valve-train issue. hope that helps

When you nail the gas, does it sound anything like ball bearings rattling in a tin can = detonation. That would certainly take the edge off performance, if the PCM was pulling maximum timing, and you could still hear the "rattle" of knock.

It sounds kind of like when you spin ball bearings..it makes that kind of grinding...slooshy noise.... every time and any time you even touch the gas... thanks guys for helping me out...

I think i have that same ticking noise you describe. It feels like she doesn't go as hard when it does it. And sounds like tick tick tick but it is quite faint.....not real loud. Kindof sounds like it's comming from way up under the dash.

The "ball bearing" thing can be the classic sound of detonation. You would logically feel poorer peformance when you hear it, because if you can actually hear it, it means the PCM has pulled all the knock retard it can possibly pull, and you still have detonation.
