When I bought my 95 z28 the previous owner put some sort of pulley on the crank hub instead of the stock ballancer. I was wondering is this pully going to be ok instead of the ballancer? All i know is that before my head gasket blew the motor felt fine and didnt have any vibrations. Dont even know what brand it is. JW. Thanks.

The stock piece is not a "balancer", its a harmonic damper. The damper is there to reduce damaging harmoic vibrations in the crankshaft. Without the damper, you are shortening the life of the crankshaft. You won't feel the vibrations, but but your crankshaft will.

 

Well this isnt good, because I dont have the stock one, and I am pretty much out of money for now. Could I just rob the one off of my dads 94 lt1 caprice? The guy I bought the z28 from took good care of it, but I dont think he knew much about it. Do I have any other options?
