Oil Temperature Sensor location

Where is the preferable location to place an oil temp. sensor. I am running an oil cooler with an accumulator pump.

Thanks

I'd say on the side of the oil pan.

Re: Oil Temperature Sensor location

To avoid drilling the pan, I drilled and tapped the drain plug, so the sensor will screw into it. Simply requires a "connector" so the wire can be disconnected for an oil change.

The pan is a good idea. I guess you lose the magnetic plug.

Thanks

There is a plug in the block above the oil filter that is 3/8 x 27 thread. With an adaptor an oil temp sensor will screw in there. In my case because of the dual cats, it is really hot right there and I had to insulate the sensor to keep it from giving a false reading.

I suspect that's where he already has his accumlator connected.
