Oil in tailpipes??

Not sure this is oil(doesn't really feel like oil..too watery.. and plus im color blind)..

I recently had a cam + the works installed..and there is a very slight leak from what looks like the intake manifold. The shop is going to seal it up whenever i bring it back in (been raining and dont want to drive it in crappy weather). The other day i was puttin my car cover on, and i hit my hand in the tail pipes after it was running, and i got this dark/black goop all over my hands. it doesnt exactly match the shade of color as oil thats in the car though..

It definatly looks like oil (at least to me), but is it possible that this is just carbon from the car running rich? I have a mail tune, but there is a slight gas smell on startup. I wouldnt be as concerned..but even after i drive the car for an hour, and if i put my hands in the tail pipe, the oily stuff is still there and hasnt burned off.

any ideas?

Could it be coolant? If it is, sounds like it could be blown head gasket, improperly installed heads, damaged heads...

Its definatly black. not sure if coolant would look black in the tail pipes. and there is no smoke on startup.

Sure as hell hope its nothing other then carbon!!

I have that too, Mine drips out right before the muffler. I saw it one day and kinda got freaked out by it; thought it was oil as well. I think it's carbon and moisture/steam in the exhaust mixed. I'm not loosing oil and just did compression test and passed.

No need to panic...its normal. Just moisture built up from the temperature change mixing with all the exhaust particles and such built up on the inside of the pipes.

Phew, good to hear. it doesnt seem think or viscous enough to be oil..but it seemed like it might be a slight amount. also, i have a cut-out, so maybe most of the heat would shoot out there, and maybe that would cause the moisture to not burn off in the tail pipes/muffler.

My power seems to be good with the cam install. just a slight leak from the manifold, but that will be fixed next week.

Thanks guys.
