oil sensor in pan?

ive looked online for hours now. does anyone know the resistance the sensor runs in ohms when the engine is appropriately filled with oil?

Re: oil sensor in pan?

It probably is not much, since in the normal state it provides a short to the two leads feeding it. Since the black/white lead goes to ground, the sensor effectively grounds the brown lead back to the gauge cluster. It is when the cluster does not see this ground that the lamp will light (if you were to unplug the sensor, there would be a constant light).

If you want to bypass the sensor, just unplug it and jumper across the harness connector to keep the light off.

Then why are you posting in the LT1 forum! Geez.

Perhaps the one you have works the same way. I don't know.

Your sig says LS1. It's better to give all the pertinent info up front so people can actually help you.

Re: oil sensor in pan?

just pull the cluster out and follow the leads for the light. i take it there is an electrical connection in the back of the pod? and the wire for this dummy light should be there, right? unless it was completely removed from the 'pigtail' or w/e. you're going to have to get back there and figure it out yorurself since noone seems to have any diagrams or anything. i know youre threads about this have been up for a few days but noone seems to know how to fix this so youre going to have to figure it out. take it all apart and follow the wires, look at the circuits, you should be able to figure it out. thats how i learn anyway. later!

cant pull the bulb, its a soldered led to the circuit board. im afraid of unsoldering it, fear that it may alter the function of the cluster if this connection doesnt complete a path.

i cant jumper the connector either. no connector, no sensor, no ecm. i have an ls1 dash in my car but im using a 97 lt1 cluster so my tach and my fuel gauge will function properly. all i have is a brown wire out of the plug for the cluster.
ill figure it out on my own, it seems a lot of people are fed up with the low oil light being on, due to faulty sensor, or wiring of somesort. in my search ive found a few people with 93-96 firebirds that have put in the 97 camaro cluster cause it looks a lil better than the big needles on the firebird cluster, but this causes the low oil light to stay on constantly.
when i find a fix, ill sell it on ebay.
