my 93 Z just currently started doing this same thing. i've changed plugs like 3 different times due to rough idle and the smell of burning oil from the exhaust. I finally took it to the shop that does all my installs and ran a compression test. There were 5 out of 8 cylinders running weak on it. We could change the plugs today and a week later(70 miles or so) there would be 5 of the plugs drenched in oil. I was told that it was rebuild time for my Z, unfortunately it was my daily driver and i didnt have the $$$ to go rebuiling it. Hope that this isn't your problem and it leads to something better. Just thought i'd share my .02 with ya. Good Luck and let us know what ya find out...

If compression is ok do a leak down. If ok go for valve seals. Tell us about the heads. Stock or not estimated miles on them etc. If a lot of miles on them think about valve springs while your there. do them with the leak down tester so you don't have to remove the heads.

fix the one you have and quit this talk about a new one. Capeesh.

The heads are not stick, but the valves are. THe bowls are ported. The valve springs have maybe 15k on them, and the vavle stem seal have maybe about 8k on them. I hope to god stock gm seals dont go bad in 8 thousand miles. I have still yet to do a compression test on all the cylinders, its too darn cold iin my non heated garage.

Like I said doing a compression check will help you determine what step to take next. Whether it be a nice 383 or a budget 355.
